Gynecomastia
The male breast, which is structurally similar to the female breast, contains less female hormones.

Breast Growth in Men (Gynecomastia)
Structurally similar to the female breast, the male breast contains fewer female hormones.

In some cases, however, the male breast starts to grow spontaneously and almost takes the shape of a woman's breast. This is a disease and is called "gynecomastia" in medicine.

Gynecomastia can have many causes. Some diseases and medicines can cause gynecomastia. However, in the vast majority of cases gynecomastia occurs spontaneously for no apparent reason.

A large proportion of bodybuilding athletes also suffer from gynecomastia. This is due to the high amount of male hormone they use as a stimulant.

Once gynecomastia occurs, the growing breast tissue must be surgically removed because it cannot be treated.

Surgery
Two different operations are performed depending on the structure of the mammary gland.

If it is soft and fatty; fat removal surgery (liposuction) may be sufficient.

Hard and large gynecomastia must be removed with open technique. It is not a scarring surgery. A semicircular incision is made at the junction of the nipple and the colored part and the mammary gland is removed from there. If necessary, liposuction is also performed.

It is a small and painless surgery that can be performed without the need for hospitalization. After 4 days you can return to your normal life.

Who is suitable for this surgery
It is recommended for all men with gynecomastia. This is a difficult condition for a man to bear. It creates psychological problems, especially in young people.

Complications
The risk of infection can alert you with a one-sided swelling that may appear around the fifth day after surgery. The solution will be clearing the infection and antibiotic treatment.

Asymmetry is also among the problems that can be encountered after this surgery. In these cases, retouching surgery may be required.

After Surgery
Patients are usually discharged on the same day and can return to work after 3-4 days. The first night may be troublesome. A simple oral painkiller is usually sufficient. Serious bruising and swelling are not seen in this surgery.
